Notably, Kroeber’s landmark California Indian synthesis does notĭiscuss the essential role of a fetish or fetish bundle in the weather shaman’s success. Control of the weather by shamans, however, was believed to occur as far as the northern limits of the state, although it was considerably less emphasized there (Kroeber 1925:854). Throughout the southern half of the state, there were native people who were famous as “rain doctors,” and the greatest development of the idea appears to have been in the region where central and southern California meet. One such area was south-central California. There were, however, geographical subdivisions in weather control, distinguished by specializations in the techniques used for ritually influencing meteorological phenomena. With the exception of some new information, this article remains their work.Ītive control of the weather was quite generally practiced throughout the arid portions of the western United States. With Gerrit Fenenga’s permission, the editors have chosen to edit and complete the unfinished work in order to honor the memory of Frank Fenenga and Francis Riddell. The editors researched the original manuscript and found that Frank had presented a paper on the subject at the 1978 annual Society for California Archaeology meetings. Esteban Miranda, a Tübatulabal chief (timiwal) who died about October 13, 1942, was the stepson of a Chumash shaman from Tejon who appears to have first owned and used the bundle. This bundle is on loan from one of the local Indians, a granddaughter of Esteban Miranda. Merriam was interested in obtaining information about the bundle, since he had been informed that it might have been part of a larger assemblage, a portion of which is currently on exhibit at the Kern Valley Museum. Included with the manuscript were Frank’s field notes, a photograph, sketches of the artifacts, and a letter dated Janufrom Robert Merriam, Curator of the Kern Valley Museum in Kernville. It pertained to a Native California rain-making bundle from Kern County. Aa airpass review11/29/2022 ![]() They are also good for checking various flights in Asia.Įach website is different and has different rules for booking the flights.ġ. The site is called Mystifly, and they are good for booking low-cost European airlines that are not in Amadeus (EasyJet, Ryan Air). There is a third online-only site that we use, but it’s not an airline. Both airlines operate mainly in Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, China, and Japan. The three main online airlines we use that CANNOT be booked in Amadeus are Jetstar, Scoot, and AirAsia. This can be tricky because these flights can show up in an Amadeus search, so you have to be careful. Sometimes we use online-only airlines who don’t allow booking in Amadeus. Not all flights we book are booked in Amadeus. Here is a reference document to our Amadeus consolidator partners QUIZ: Private Fare (Net) Pricing with Consolidator contracts Watch this video to see how you can switch between office IDs See this video for examples of finding better fares using our consolidator partners. For others, we have to create a new PNR in that partner’s office ID and GK (ghost book) that particular flight in the main PNR. For some partners and airlines, we can price a certain flight with that partner but still book the flight in the AirTreks office ID and PNR. There are different rules for each of these partners. Once you do this for a while, you’ll start to know which vendors to search for particular routes (like using GTT or Mill for US to Europe flights, or Club for Sao Paulo to Johannesburg flights). You can reference this spreadsheet to see which vendors are most used in each region and which airlines are best to look for in each. The four most used vendors are Mill, GTT, Exito, and Club. We still do this in Amadeus, but we have to search in their respective office ID instead of AirTreks’. We have other vendors, called consolidator partners, that we can use to book flights. ![]()

Quick notes windows11/29/2022 ![]() These capabilities are certainly education-focused, but they require coordination with the instructor. One feature I don't cover is OneNote's Class Notebook (Opens in a new window) tools. Parents can follow these same guidelines to organize notes for children too young to do so themselves. Whether you use an old or different version of OneNote a different note-taking app, such as Evernote or Bear or whatever solution your office suite provides, you can apply many of the same organization strategies I discuss below. Note that you can download a free version of OneNote (Opens in a new window) that does not require a Microsoft subscription, but that app lacks some features of the for-pay version. I picked OneNote-specifically the OneNote for Windows 10 app, which requires a Microsoft 365 account-for this guide because it's cross-platform, flexible, supports many input types (such as touch, handwriting, and stylus), and syncs to an excellent cloud storage service (OneDrive). Why Choose OneNote for a Paper Notebook Replacement? A digital note-taking app doesn't suffer from any of these constraints. For example, traditional notebooks are susceptible to damage and loss, make it difficult to find specific notes, and have a finite and fixed number of pages. I grew up taking school notes by pen or pencil in physical notebooks and enjoyed the manual process, but there's no doubt that more modern digital note-taking solutions offer clear advantages over the old analog methods. Peig sayers house11/29/2022 ![]() "While there has been a decline in the Gaeltacht, I feel we are witnessing a movement in the language elsewhere and we want to be part of that. "The Blasket Islands are untouched and a complete nature reserve," she told the Irish Independent. Siobhán de Paor, an Irish-language performance artist, said the location was a "very special place". "The aim of the Wild Irish Retreat is to break through that pervasive shame and inhibition by taking Irish out of an academic setting and using it in a natural one, which the language is more suited to," he said. She was remembered by one of the nuns there as 'very stately and very dignified. After a bad fall in the late 1940s, her health deteriorated, and she spent the last eight years of her life in the Dingle Hospital. He said "shyness and embarrassment" caused people to struggle with the language. Peig, her son and her brother-in-law went back to live near Vicarstown on the mainland at the end of 1941. The house is one of three original dwellings which have been restored to accommodate up to 30 people.įormer Wexford hurler Diarmuid Lyng is organising the retreat. The famous home of Peig Sayers is even available for rent over the course. If you can’t manage to visit the islands you may wish to visit the Blasket Centre on the mainland where you can get an idea of the islanders’ lives and appreciate the importance literary legacy of the area.A 'Gaeltacht for grown-ups' in west Kerry is attempting to help adults "remove the psychological block" with the Irish language.Īttendees at the 'Awaken Your Heritage' on September 11 will be expected to speak as Gaeilge throughout the whole weekend on the Blasket Islands - but there will also be encouragement for those who struggle with 'an teanga'. It too has a puffin colony and a native red deer herd. The ruins of an early monastic settlement can also be seen. This island was the home of the Daly family until it was abandoned in 1904 and is also remembered as the holiday home of former Irish Taoiseach Charles Haughey. Inishvickillane – Inis Mhic Uibhleáin – Mac Uibhleáin’s Island Inishnabro is known for it’s spectacular rock formations that resemble a Gothic cathedral (Cathedral Rocks). This island was inhabited until the middle of the last century and was used for summer grazing for the sheep and cattle of the Great Blasket. The island has the ruins of an oratory known as Brendan’s Oratory. Inis Tuaisceart (Inishtooskert) is often referred to as “the Sleeping Giant” due to the shape of it’s silhouette. The island has a Puffin colony that served as a source of food and feathers for the Islanders’ bedding. It’s lighthouse, dating from 1870, is the most westerly lighthouse in Ireland. Tearaght (or Tiaracht) boasts Europe’s steepest funicular track. One can only imagine the challenges of such a role with only beauty and solitude for comfort. There are the remains of a herdsman’s shelter. This island was traditionally used by the islander to fatten cattle. The crossing takes about 20 minutes (weather permitting). Below the village lies An Trá Bhán (the white strand). The first written works to be published from the oral Irish culture came from these people, most notably the Irish storyteller Peig Sayers (remembered with mixed emotions by many Irish school children who had to study her works!). You can wander among the ruined cottages and consider how despite the remote hardships the villagers endured they still managed to contribute so much to the Irish cultural heritage. The village is at the eastern end of the island. The main Blasket Islands are: The Great Blasket – An Blascaod Mór The islands are no longer inhabited, having been abandoned in 1953 when years of hardship and emigration meant the aging remaining islanders could no longer manage the difficult task of rowing their traditional canoes (naomhoga) to the mainland. These islands are Ireland’s, and Europe’s, most westerly point. #PEIG SAYERS HOUSE PLUS#The Blasket Islands is a small archipelago of 6 main islands plus many tiny smaller islands lying about 5km off the Dingle peninsula. ![]()

Kingdom new lands wikia11/27/2022 ![]() ![]() It is not known how these lands came to be other than they appeared in the changing of the world. These lands are roughly based on the Americas but it is not known wether it was actually a continent whole, or two land masses. Origins: These named "New Lands" doesn't actually have a proper name as the continent itself was only mentioned by the inhabitants of Middle-Earth only once in history. ![]() It was never known if they returned to these lands, but it was in this journey that they discovered that the world was round. They did not find this land to be of immortality like The Undying Lands, but that of their home which was mortal. Near the end of the second age, the great mariners of the Dunedain in Middle-Earth who searched for the isle of Meneltarma and desired to travel to the west, came across the seas to instead find these lands. ![]() In place of it, the New Lands were created in the west. History: During the changing of the world in the second age by Eru Illuvatar, it is said he removed the continenet of Aman from the circles of the world and bent the sees to make the world round. The Dark Lands (Hyarmenor) is shown at the bottom as it's tip is visible but only because it is there to represent if it still existed, as it may not If you still dont believe that it's canon, if you go to the continents category on "The One Wiki to Rule Them All," you'll find it. There is a map that some LOTR fans made showing what it possible looks like, and a bigger map of what it looks like with the rest of the world on the article about the Land of the Sun (The Land of the Sun most likely plays crucial role in the creation of the New Lands, so that is why it is viwed on that page). However, the shape of the continent itself and the possible inhabitants living there is not. Just because it was only mentioned once does not mean its not. I would like to tell you before reading this that this continent is canon to J.R.R. ![]()

The last of us part 2 strategy guide book11/27/2022 ![]() Side note: I have not played the game yet and know almost nothing about the Last of Us 2 plot, so it will be doubly fun to revisit the whole thing and build up my expectations and assumptions before I actually take the controller to my hands. ![]() I should tell you at once: the review will be totally SPOILER-FREE as it will only mildly touch the characters and will focus mostly on Naughty Dog’s efforts to make the game as big of a hit as the first part. For such a huge event in the gaming industry, developers really should have gone all-in and make sure every single soul on earth knows their blockbuster is released. What I can do, however, is to discuss the game’s marketing strategy. #THE LAST OF US PART 2 STRATEGY GUIDE BOOK PS4#Additionally, as much as I love playing games (and still think that my PS4 was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made), I am no professional critic. We will halt a bit here with a little disclaimer: assessing the further story of Ellie and Joel in itself is a bit of a stretch for this blog as we usually talk about marketing and designs – a branding case study, so to speak. How could it possibly happen that it failed so many expectations? I guess the reason is that… How did it do? Well, according to the players, not so splendidly – 5.6 out of 10 on Metacritic is hardly an excellent result, even despite the critics seem to have loved it. Sure enough, fans expected nothing less from the follow-up chapter, so TLOU 2 had to maintain the same level – either that or be even better. ![]() It became a huge hit, earned the love of millions of fans and critics alike, and received an incredible number of awards – it even stands to be the game of the decade. The Last of Us II was one of the most anticipated video game releases in the last 7 years that have passed since the highly successful first part. ![]()
